PURPOSE:To obtain a laser apparatus capable of making the distribution shape of the laser spectrum of its excited laser beam approximately equal with the absorption spectrum of an irradiation object, by providing an excited laser which is excited through a first and second exciting laser, and by synchronizing the excited laser with the first exciting laser, and further, by providing a spectrum modifying means which can modify the distribution shape of the time region of the first exciting laser beam in the neighborhood of a synchronized excitation. CONSTITUTION:An exciting laser beam 25 distributed from a first exciting laser 20 and an exciting laser beam 27 distributed from a second exciting laser 26 are synthesized by an optical synthesizer 28, and a synthesized exciting laser beam 29 is obtained, and thereby, a dye solution 16 of a dye laser 1 is excited. When the first exciting laser 20 is subjected to a mode-locked oscillation, a mirror 15 or 18 is made movable in the direction shown by an arrow, and thereby, the length of the resonator of the dye laser 1 is equalized with the one of the first exciting laser 20. As a result, the dye laser 1 is subjected to a mode-locked oscillation too. Then, in this synchronized excitation state, as a first means, a mirror 21 or 24 of the first exciting laser 20 is made movable in the direction shown by an arrow, and the length of the resonator of the first exciting laser 20 is changed or the modulating frequency of a modulation device 22 is modified. As a result, the width, etc., of the distribution shape of the laser spectrum of an excited laser beam 14 are changed too. |
