PURPOSE:To improve focusing and to prevent tracking and reading error by providing a recording layer consisting of a dye which allows writing by a laser on the outer peripheral edge of a annular recording region and focusing region and providing a metallic reflection layer thereon. CONSTITUTION:The information recording medium is constituted of the disk- shaped substrate 1, the recording layer 2 which is provided on the outer periphery thereof and consists of the dye to allow writing by the laser, the metallic reflection layer 3 on the layer 2 and a protective layer 4 thereon. The recording medium is provided with a reproducing region 5 provided with pits on the inner peripheral side substrate, the recording region 6 which is formed with grooves and is recordable on the outer peripheral side substrate, and a focusing region 7 which is formed with grooves between the region 7 which is formed with grooves between the regions 5 and 6. The peripheral edge of the recording layer 2 is formed in the region 7. Cyanine dyes, such as indolenine dyes and imidazoquinolisane dyes, and phthalocyanine dyes, etc., are used for the dyes of the layer 2. |
