PURPOSE:To reduce a switching loss, prevent a switching means from breaking down, and obtain a compact and a low-cost discharge lamp lighting device by composing it in such a way that delay current flows constantly if a discharge lamp is removed. CONSTITUTION:A load circuit consisting of an inductor 5 and a discharge lamp 6 included in series are provided in parallel at either one of switching means 2, 3, and capacitors 8, 9 are connected between filaments on the non-power source side and the power source side of the discharge lamp 6 respectively. In this case, a second inductor 12 is provided in parallel with the load circuit, and a delay current can be sent through the switching means constantly, and a power source for a control circuit 4 is obtained using the second inductor 2, so their parts can be used commonly. The whale body of the device can thus be compact, and the cost can be low. |
