The invention relates to a heating installation in a shop for bending plates of glass, in which there are a number of continuous heat resistor elements 3 placed alongside each other so as to form a resistance field which covers the area for the plate of glass 4 which is to be bent, together with a control device 1, 2 for switching the resistor elements 3 on and off. The separate, independently controllable resistor elements 3 have been placed in resistor element fields situated one after the other in the longitudinal direction of the resistor elements, and the control device 1, 2 has been arranged so as to switch on the resistors 3, in the resistor element fields situated one after the other, in accordance with a selected program, in such a gradual manner that the resistors switched on in fields situated one after the other form at least one heating line deviating from the direction of the resistor elements. <IMAGE>
