Device for the provision of a plane constituting in particular the floor of a public meeting place, covered or open-air, and intended to be used in different surface states, the device permitting mechanised conversion from one surface state of the said plane to another. The device is characterised in that it consists of a vertically movable platform (1) which can be displaced between a lower position and an upper position, the platform comprising at least two panels (2a, 2b), each panel being capable of being displaced alternately between an active position, arranged horizontally with respect to the top of the said platform, and a lateral withdrawn position which is lower compared to the said active position, the platform comprising mechanical means capable of ensuring the displacement of each panel from one position to another. <IMAGE>
