Cosmetic reducing composition. This composition contains, in a suitable cosmetic vehicle, as reducing agent, at least one aminomercaptoalkylamide having the following general formula: <IMAGE> in which: A represents the divalent radical -(CH2)n-, n being an integer between 2 and 5, or the divalent radical -(CH2)2-O-(CH2)2-, m is 0 or an integer between 1 and 4, (i) when m = 0, R1 represents a hydrogen atom, a methyl radical, an ethyl radical, an isopropyl radical, an isobutyl radical, a 2-methylbutyl radical, a benzyl radical, a 4-aminobutyl radical, a 3-guanidino propyl radical, a 2-(methylthio)ethyl radical, a carboxymethyl radical or a 2-carboxyethyl radical, (ii) when m is an integer from 1 to 4, R1 represents a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl radical having from 1 to 5 carbon atoms, with the proviso that, when m is 1 and A represents the divalent radical -(CH2)2, R1 is other than a hydrogen atom, and the salts of the abovementioned compounds of formula (I). Use for the first stage of an operation of permanent-reshaping of hair.
