PURPOSE:To impart the excellent durability to light deterioration and excellent durability under severe environment such as high temp. and high humidity environment by adding a specific cyanine dye and a quencher. CONSTITUTION:An optical recording medium is obtained by laminating a light absorbing layer, a light reflecting layer and a protective layer to a light pervious substrate in this order. As the light pervious substrate, the so-called injection molded resin substrate is pref. used from the viewpoint of the enhancement of productivity and this substrate is formed from a transparent material, for example, a polycarbonate resin or a polymethyl methacrylate. A cyanine dye represented by formula (I) and a quencher represented by formula (II) (wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 are respectively hydrogen or a substituent such as CH3O- or CH3COO-) are added to the light absorbing layer. The quencher is added in an amount of about 0.01-10 mol. per one mol. of the dye. The light reflecting layer is provided on the light absorbing layer and constituted of a metal such as Au, Ag, Cu or Al. |
