PURPOSE:To eliminate misdecision making and to improve the operation efficiency by selecting a sorting opening according to order information read by a read head and conveying a cartridge to the selected sorting opening. CONSTITUTION:The cartridge 22 is mounted on a cartridge mount base 16 first, a driving motor 40 is rotated forward, and the negative film 18 is drawn out and conveyed in contact with the read head 62. At the time of this contact movement, the order information recorded in the magnetic recording layer 64 at the tip part of the negative film 18 is read out. A cartridge housing part 74 is selected according to the read information and the driving motor 40 is reversed to rewound the negative film 18 around the spool 20. After this rewinding, the cartridge 22 is conveyed to the conveyance path 36 of a negative conveyance part. In this conveyance, the driving is stopped once a specific infrared sensor 80 detects whether there is the cartridge 22 or not.
