Appts. to detach a bobbin sleeve from the stationary spindle of a bobbin winder has an air feed unit which slides axially towards the spindle to press against a hollow shaft secured to the spindle. The air feed unit is mounted to swing round the rotary axis (A) of the spindle. The air feed unit has a cylinder with a piston with a swing plug body on the piston rod moving round its axis (A), and a mouthpiece on the piston rod axis (A). A switch contact is at the air feed unit, as a support roller or sliding shoe displaced from the rotary axis (A), to be brought to a fixed section of the winder. The switch contact can be fitted to a jib at the plug body to give it a vertical movement, and is connected to a valve. The position of the plug body is monitored by a sensor. A rubber cuff is fitted to the mouthpiece or the hollow shaft. USE/ADVANTAGE - For detaching large bobbins weighing several kg, with yarns or filaments which have been wound at rates of several thousand m/min., the air feed to free the bobbin from the braking grip at the spindle can only be delivered when the spindle is at rest.
