CARRIER FOR SERUM-FREE CELL CULTURE

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject carrier, composed of a calcium phosphate- containing carrier material, capable of stably feeding a culture medium of a constant composition with simple culturing operation and useful for culturing adhesive proliferative cells in a serum-free culture medium. CONSTITUTION:The objective carrier is composed of a carrier composition containing a calcium phosphate compound (preferably hydroxyapatite). Furthermore, the specific surface area (measured by a gas adsorption method) of the calcium phosphate compound is preferably 0.1-70m<2>/g. For example, fibroblasts and endothelial cells are cited as cells culturable in a serum-free culture medium by using the aforementioned carrier.
