This is an arrangement for lighting cooking-grill coal or briquettes without using an igniting liq. A rectangular pipe, whose length is at least twice the breadth, has openings (4) in opposite sides. The grid or grate for carrying the coal or briquettes, is inserted through the openings. There is at least one opening (3) for air. Variants claimed include various constructional details. USE/ADVANTAGE - Some igniting arrangements involve lighting the fuel elsewhere and shaking it, while glowing, into the grill receptacle; soot and sparks fly around and, among other drawbacks, there is a risk of fire. Ignition liquids may be banned in the future, and this would render some grill arrangements unusable. The proposed arrangement, in which the grate is inserted and coal or briquettes are piled on it, and ignited by burning paper (e.g. a crumpled sheet of newspaper) under them, overcomes the disadvantages of these other arrangements. The arrangement can be readily packed for transit. Its possible use in caravans and similar surroundings is mentioned.
