<p>Apparatus for separating liquids, for example oil floating on a body of water, comprises at least one unit having two chambers (1, 2) with the first chamber (1) communicating with the second chamber (2) through a movable gate (11). In operation upon relative movement between the apparatus and the body of water, oil and water enter the first chamber and oil on the surface of the water passes through the gate (11) into the second chamber (2). The oil collecting in the second chamber displaces water out of the second chamber (2) through an outlet (8, 9) at a lower part of the second chamber.</p> |
