PURPOSE:To facilitate the manufacture of a cylindrical diaphragm in an electrolytic cell and to vary the diameter of the cylinder freely by using as the diaphragm a cylinder obtained by coupling single diaphragm composed of a reinforcing body and a film body like a ''Saran '' film made of synthetic resin in one body. CONSTITUTION:In case 1 of a water ionizer, electrolytic cell 2 is installed, and alkali ion water and acidic water separated in electrolytic cell 2 are taken out separately via outlets 3 and 4 at the lower part of case 1. Electrolytic cell 2 has carbon rod 6 for an anode fixed standing in external pipe 5 for a cathode made of stainless steel, and diaphragm 7 positioned between external pipe 5 and carbon rod 6. This diaphragm 7 is formed cylindrically by coupling long-sized single diaphragms 7a obtained by melt-sticking a film body 9 like a ''Saran '' film to reinforcing body 8 made of synthetic resin, having a lattice-shaped framework, in a body; and reinforcing body 8a is made of double structures to form fit-in groove 10 and reinforcing body 8b is made of double structures to form fit-in groove 10 and reinforcing body 8a at the other lengthwise side is made thicker to obtain insert body 11 which can be fitted in fit-in groove 10. |
