The working spaces (12, 13) enclosed between the rotor (11) and the internal wall (15) of the stator (10) are subdivided into induction cells (121, 131) and compression cells (122, 132) by the vanes (20) sliding in longitudinal slots (21) to the rim of the rotor (11). Vane sepn. from the wall (15) is signalled electrically by a detector (26) whose period is dependent on the rotor peripheral speed, while the amplitude varies with the distance between the vane (20) and wall (15). USE/ADVANTAGE - Compressor for vehicle air conditioning. Lifting of the vanes from their guidance surfaces is detected immediately and corrected before the internal wall of the stator can sustain damage.
