PURPOSE:To reduce speed change shock by receiving the output of a range detecting means and a transmission input side turbine rotating speed detecting means, and performing the shift into a start stage via a high speed stage according to the transmission input side turbine rotating speed when a forward travel range is selected. CONSTITUTION:A controller 10 receives the respective output signals of a throttle opening sensor 15 for detecting the opening of the throttle valve 1c of an engine 1, a turbine rotating speed sensor 16 for detecting the transmission 2 input side rotating speed of the turbine of a torque converter 6, and a range sensor 17 for detecting a range selected by a selector lever 8. In the controller 10, there is further provided a control change means for performing the shift into the first gear speed (a start stage) via the third gear speed (a high speed stage) according to the turbine rotating speed when a forward travel D, S or L is selected. Thus at the starting N D change-over time, the third gear speed is set first, and then the first gear speed is set at the time of the turbine rotating speed being lowered, so that start can be performed with little speed change shock. |
