<p>Process for the preparation of carbon fibres in which a slurry of rosin and 0.1-20 wt.% of at least one plasticer, is prepared and the slurry is heated to 100-300 degrees C to soften it and remove volatile products. It is then spun to form fibres at 100-250 degrees C and the fibres are thermally treated at 260 degrees C in an oxidising atmosphere at 600-1200 degrees C. The fibres are used in the reinforcement of plastics and metals.</p> |
