The invention concerns a silencer unit (54) designed as a single module, plus a machine (1) which uses a silencer unit of this kind. Rapid replacement of the silencer unit (54) is possible since it is designed to be detached easily from its point of attachment. Fitted inside the silencer are baffle plates (66) which repeatedly change the direction of the gases exiting from the outlet of a pump (36), the inlet (64) and outlet (69) of the silencer being located on the front of the silencer.
