PURPOSE:To obtain a writable optical recording medium, by which high reflectivity is acquired in conformity with CD specifications and which has the sufficient degree of modulation, by containing a specific cyanine dyestuff in a light absorbing layer. CONSTITUTION:In an optical recording medium 1, a light absorbing layer 12, a light reflecting layer 13 and a protective layer 14 are laminated on a light- transmitting substrate 11. An injection molding resin substrate is used as the light-transmitting substrate 11 from the viewpoint of improvement in productivity, and formed of a transparent material such as a polycarbonate resin, a polymethacrylic acid methyl resin, etc., and the substrate 11 is approximately 1.0-1.5mm thick. The light absorbing layer 12 is film-formed onto the substrate 11, a cyanine dyestuff shown in general formula I is contained in the light absorbing layer 12, and the writable optical recording medium, by which high reflectivity is acquired in conformity with CD specifications and which has the sufficient degree of modulation, can be obtained. In formula, R1 and R2 represent a 3-8C alkyl group, preferably a 3-5C alkyl group respectively. |
