PREPARATION OF THERMAL TRANSFER SHEET AND PRINTING MASTER

PURPOSE:To obtain a printing master of high resolving power by forming a heating layer containing an oleophilic image forming material and a near infrared absorbing dye on a base sheet and irradiating the same with laser beam. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer sheet 10 for preparing a printing master is obtained by forming a heating layer 14 consisting an oleophilic image forming material 12 and a near infrared absorbing dye 13 on the single surface of a base sheet. When the thermal transfer sheet 10 is irradiated with laser beam corresponding to an image signal, the irradiated part 25 generates heat to melt the image forming material 12 and is pressed by a pressure roller 22 to selectively transfer an oleophilic image forming material 26 to the surface of the base sheet of the printing master. Therefore, an oleophilic image part 27 and a hydrophilic non-image part 28 are formed on the base sheet 24 of the printing master.
