<p>An apparatus and method for linearizing the gain of a nonlinear power amplifier (115) in a TDM digital transceiver. The power amplifier's transfer function describes a relationship between its input signal and output signal. The output signal is selectively demodulated, substantially with existing receiver elements, during the transmit time slot of a TDM time frame. An inverse transfer function is determined from the nominal gain of the power amplifier (115) and the transfer function. A correction value, corresponding to the transfer function and its inverse, is determined in a vector table. The correction value is multiplied with the input signal resulting in an adjusted input signal. The amplified adjusted input signal produces a varied output signal that is linear relative to the input signal.</p> |
