PURPOSE:To produce a liquid epoxy resin suitable for producing FRP, having excellent heat resistance by dehydrohalogenating an addition product of an aminophenol and an epihalohydrin with a specific amount of an alkali hydroxide. CONSTITUTION:(A) An aminophenol (e.g. p-aminophenol) and an epihalohydrin (e.g. epichlorohydrin) are subjected to addition reaction in the presence of a catalyst (e.g. tetramethylammonium chloride), (B) 0.5-0.9, preferably 0.6-0.9 as much as an alkali hydroxide as a stoichiometrically required amount (when triglycidyl compound is an objective compound, 3mol alkali hydroxide is required based on 1mol aminophenol) is added little by little to the reaction system, to dehydrohalogenize the addition product and (C) a triglycidyl compound is separated and recovered preferably by distillation to produce an epoxy resin suitable for FRP production especially by FW method. |
