NEW MATERIAL:A peptide having an amino acid sequence represented by formula Ala-Leu-Pro-His-Ala. USE:An angiotensinase inhibitor, a preventive and therapeutio agent of hypertension, an antihypertensive agent and a therapeutic agent of angina, myocardial infarction and congestive cardiac failure. PREPARATION:For example, dried bonito is used as a protein and water is added to the dried skipjack. The resultant mixture is sufficiently homogenized and thermolysin is then added thereto. Hydrolysis is subsequently carried out at 37 deg.C and pH 7 for 3hr followed by boiling at 100 deg.C for 10min. After cooling, the solution is concentrated by centrifugal separation and subsequently purified by high performance liquid chromatography, thus obtaining the objective new peptide having an amino acid sequence of formula Ala-Leu-Pro-His-Ala determined by analysis using a gaseous phase protein sequencer, melting point of 158 deg.C and specific rotary power [alpha] (C=0.5 water) of -71.5 deg.. |
