<p>Thermoplastic compounds are made from scrap rubber material such as used vehicle tyres. The rubber material is ground to a particle size smaller than 10 mesh and is substantially free of moisture, metal particles and fabric particles. The ground rubber material is blended into molten thermoplastic polymeric material, and the resulting blend is heated according to a predetermined time and temperature profile. Additives such as deodorants, disersing agents, colouring agents, etc. may also be added to the blend.</p> |
