A valve 2 for a urine collection bag 1 has a base plate 21 with a valve housing 22 within which a valve member 23 is displaceable. The valve member 23 is hollow and has an aperture 42 that aligns with an aperture 24 in the base plate and bag when the valve member is in its lower position. The valve is opened by squeezing a finger plate 43 on the valve member 23 down towards a lower finger grip 30 on the base plate. In the open position, the valve member 23 can engage a coupling 50 which slots between the arms 32 of a fork projection 31 on the base plate. The valve is closed by squeezing the finger plate 43 up towards an upper finger grip 26 on the base plate. <IMAGE>
