COMPOSITION FOR FORMING HIGH STRENGTH HARDENED BODY

PURPOSE:To improve characteristics as a biomaterial and physical properties such as strength and hardening time by combining powder based on tetracalcium phosphate having an affinity for a living body with an acidic aq. soln. contg. phosphoric acid and citric acid as essential components. CONSTITUTION:This compsn. for forming. a high strength hardened body is composed of 100 pts.wt. powder based on tetracalcium phosphate and 5-80 pts.wt. (expressed in terms of acids) acidic aq. soln. The tetracalcium phosphate has a coating layer harmless to a living body and having an affinity for the living body. The acidic aq. soln. contains 30-70wt.%, in total, of 25-50wt.% citric acid and phosphoric acid as essential components. The concn. of the citric acid is higher than that of the phosphoric acid by 10-50wt.%.
