PURPOSE:To obtain a new magnetic fluid composition which is excellent in heat resistance, cold resistance, and durability by preparing the fluid of fine particles of a ferromagnetic substance each of which is coated with a fluorine- bearing silane coupling agent and fine particles of an organic solvent used as a dispersing medium. CONSTITUTION:This magnetic fluid composition is prepared by mixing fine particles of a ferromagnetic substance each of which is coated with a fluorine- bearing silane coupling agent and fine particles of an organic solvent used as a dispersing agent. A compound expressed by, for example, CnF2n+1(CH2)pSiR3-mLm (where, (n) represent an integer 1-20 and (p) and (m) represent integers 1-3, and R and L respectively represent and alkyl group and halogen atoms, hydroxyl group, alkoxyl group, or acyloxyl group) is preferable as the fluorine-bearing silane coupling agent. Such an iron oxide as magnetite, such a ferrite as manganese ferrite, etc., such a nitride as iron nitride, or such a ferromagnetic metal as iron, cobalt, rare earth metals are suitably for the ferromagnetic substance. A fluorine-bearing compound, for example, a fluorine--bearing hydrocarbon, such as a perfluorocarbon compound, etc., is especially suitable for the organic solvent. |
