<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the impossibility of steering owing to motor lock during running and to effectively prevent erroneous detection of a motor lock by detecting the motor lock during straight running through the straight running state deciding function and the motor lock detecting function of a control part. CONSTITUTION:Signals from a car speed sensor 14, a torque sensor 11, and a potentiometer 13 are inputted to a controller 20, and it is decided from a steering angle by the potentiometer 13 whether a handle 12 is in a neutral position. When it is in a neutral position, by deciding whether a car speed exceeds 5km/h, it is decided whether it is in a straight running state. When it is decided that a car is in a straight running state, it is decided whether handle steering torque T exceeds a threshold Ts. When it exceeds the threshold Ts, count up is effected, and when the number N of counts exceeds a set value Ns, it is decided that an assist motor 9 is in a lock state, a motor current is reduced to zero, and a control signal by means of which an electromagnetic clutch 10 is turned OFF is outputted.</p> |
