PURPOSE:To obtain the composition of porcelain capable of producing a functional element which has high electrostatic capacity and is large in nonlinear coefficient alpha and small in dielectric loss and varistor voltage by constituting a sintered body of SrTiO3 and CaTiO3 as a main component and incorporating Nb2O5 or Sb2O5 and CuO or MnO2 thereinto, and coating the surface of the sintered body with the specified composition and thereafter burning it. CONSTITUTION:A sintered body is constituted of 99-70mol% SrTiO3 and 1-30mol% CaTiO3 as main components and contains 0.001-1.0mol at least one kind of Nb2O5 or Sb2O5 and 0.001-1.0mol at least one kind of CuO or MnO2 for 100mol main components. The surface of the sintered body is coated with a pasty composition described hereunder and thereafter burned to obtain the objective composition of porcelain. The pasty composition is produced by mixing 20-98mol% Bi2O3, 1-50mol% CuO and 1-70mol% carbonate or oxide of Li at this rate and adding a solvent to the mixture. |
