PURPOSE:To improve the corrosion resistance of metal materials and obtain an alloy having high maximum energy product by making the alloy containing not less than 80wt.% R2Fe14B1 tetragonal crystals as a main phase and the specified quantity of V2O5. CONSTITUTION:A rear earth iron magnetic alloy contains not less than 80wt.% R2(CoxFe1-x)14B1 tetragonal crystals (wherein R is one or more of Y, Ce, Pr, Nd, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, and Er and 0<=x<=0.2) and 0.1-2.0wt.% V2O5. This composition satisfactorily improves corrosion resistance and increases maximum energy product. The composition is specified because, if V2O5 is less than 0.1wt.%, the corrosion resistance improves insufficiently and, if more than 2.0wt.%, the magnetic characteristics, especially the residual magnetic flux density, lower rapidly. |
