A process for the preparation of an adjuvant system useful to enhance the immune response in a host against an antigen comprises preparing a lipid emulsion system by blending a metabolizable oil, a low molecular weight polyol and lecithin; contacting a sterile saline solution containing the antigen with a sterile saline solution containing a refined, detoxified bacterial adjuvant and combining the sterile solutions with the lipid emulsion system, emulsifying and recovering the adjuvant system. |
