67616-131 Disclosed are fluorine-containing polymers that have good oxygen permeability, water swellability and contamination resistance and are useful for the production of oxygen permeable articles, such as contact lens. The polymers contain (meth)acrylate ester monomer units and fluorinated hydrocarbon units. In one form, the polymers are of a fluorine-containing (meth)acrylate monomer of the formula: ...(I) or (II) (wherein R1, R2, and R3 are each hydrogen or methyl, R4 is optionally O- or F-containing hydrocarbon, m and n are each 1 to 1,000) and having a fluorohydrocarbon group which is graft-bonded to the alkylene group of the (meth)acrylate monomer. In another form, the polymers are copolymers of (a) a fluorine-containing difunctional (meth)acrylate monomer of the formula: (III) 67616-131 (wherein R5 is hydrogen or methyl, R6 is hydrogen or alkyl and k is 1 to 20,000) and having a fluorohydrocarbon group which is graft-bonded to the alkylene group of the (meth)acrylate and (b) a tri- or higherfunctional fluorine-containing (meth)acrylate monomer having a fluorohydrocarbon group which is graft-bonded. |
