PURPOSE:To reduce the weight by charging a main battery through an inverter, as a rectifier, when an external AC power supply is connected with a secondary coil disposed proximate to the primary coil of an induction motor driven with AC output power of the inverter. CONSTITUTION:Based on a command fed from a control section 58, a power converter 14 functions to invert DC output of a main battery 12 into three-phase VVVF power which is then fed to the primary coils 34U-34W of the stator 30 in an induction motor 46 thus rotating a rotor 32. Secondary coils 48U-48W are arranged in same slots in the proximity of the primary coils 34U-34W. When a connector 44 connected with the secondary coils 48U-48W is connected with the AC terminal of an external power supply 60, the control section 58 detects the connection and disables DC/AC conversion through the power converter 14. AC voltages induced in the secondary coils 48U-48W are coupled electromagnetically with the primary coils 34U-34W to produce AC voltages which are subjected to AC/DC conversion through the power converting section 14 in order to charge the main battery 12. According to the constitution, weight reduction is realized. |
