PURPOSE:To prevent a medical instrument from discoloring when it is radioactively sterilized together with the polyvinyl chloride-made instrument by a method wherein at least one covering layer is formed on the outer surface of the rubber tube consisting of natural rubber or isoprene rubber throughout its length to control the volatilization of organic components contained in the rubber tube. CONSTITUTION:A covering layer 3 is formed on the outer surface of a rubber tube 2 throughout its length. The material of the covering layer may be any one, so long as it can control the volatilization of organic components contained in the rubber tube 2. It is, however, preferable to use the synthetic rubbers other than thermoplastic resin or isoprene rubber. By way of example, the material of the covering layer 3 may be polyethylene, polypropylene and polybutadiene. The thickness of the covering layer 3 is not specifically defined but it is preferably from 0.01-1.0mm. Moreover, when the tube is radioactively sterilized, the polyvinyl chloride-made medical instrument can be prevented from discoloring. |
