<p>PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for mounting of hanging bolts to simply and quickly perform sewing operations of an air bag body by forming contracted- sewn parts extending longitudinally on the opposite side surfaces of the air bag body. CONSTITUTION:Contracted-sewn parts 15 are formed and extended longitudinally on the opposite side surfaces of an air bag body 1, namely, on the upper side surface 11a and the lower side surface 11b. The sewing threads 16 of the contracted sewn stitch-parts 15 are formed by the threads having strength lower than that of the sewing threads of the air bag body 11, and the length of the air bag body 11 in the direction of expansion is contracted by the fancy stitching threads 16. When gas is supplied into the air bag body 11, the air bag body is half-spread out, and the air bag body 11 is expanded to the shape formed along the shape of the contracted sewn parts 15 longitudinally extending. When the internal pressure in the air bag body 11 reaches a specified pressure, the sewing threads 16 of the contracted sewn parts 15 are broken, and thus the air bag body 11 is expanded to its primary shaped to hold a passenger positively.</p> |
