PURPOSE:To obtain a platinum alloy catalyst which is highly active especially as an electrode catalyst of a fuel cell by depositing platinum, manganese, nickel and/or cobalt on a carbon carrier. CONSTITUTION:Platinum, manganese, and nickel and/or cobalt are deposited on a carbon carrier such as carbon black, graphite, etc. The proportions of deposited metals are 40-90atm% Pt, 30-5atm% of Mn, and 30-5atm% of Ni and/or Co. The obtd. platinum alloy catalyst has high activity and is especially useful as an electrode catalyst of a fuel cell. |
