PURPOSE:To enhance running properties at the time of printing by providing a running property improving layer based on polyacrylic ester containing silicone oil to the surface coming into contact with a head of a base material. CONSTITUTION:As the base material of a thermal transfer recording medium, a film such as a stretched polyester film having 3-8mum wax and pigment or a colored resin layer having 2-9mum thickness is used. A running property improving layer is composed of a film of a polymer composition containing silicone oil such as dimethylpolysiloxane having viscosity of 5000 centistoke or more and the ratio of the silicone oil is pref. 0.5-15%. When the ratio of the silicone oil is 0.5% or less, there is no coefficient-of-friction reducing effect and, when the ratio is 15% or more, it is difficult to hold the uniformity of a coating solution. As the polymer composition, a heat-resistant resin is used but, from the aspect of the stability of the coating solution, for example, a mixture of polyacrylic ester and urethane modified linear polyester is pref. |
