PURPOSE:To obtain the title dispersion excellent in antifoaming properties and wetting properties by adding a specified compound to an aqueous dispersion of a synthetic resin and distilling the dispersion under diminished pressure to thereby remove the contained organic solvent from the dispersion within a short time without using any antifoam. CONSTITUTION:A process for producing a water dispersion of a synthetic resin by distilling the organic solvent from an aqueous dispersion of a synthetic resin (e.g. aqueous dispersion of a polyurethane resin), wherein an acetylenic alcohol derivative [e.g. acetylenic alcohol of formula I (wherein R1 and R2 are each H or 1-10C alkyl)] and/or an acetylenic glycol derivative [e.g. acetylenic glycol of formula II (wherein R1 and R4 are each H, 1-10C alkyl; and R2 and R3 are each CH3 or C2H5) or formula III (wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 are as defined above; and m+n=3-60)] are added to the dispersion, and the obtained dispersion is distilled. According to the above process, the contained organic solvent can be removed under diminished pressure within a short time without using any antofoam. The obtained dispersion is excellent in coating workability and can give a good coating film, for example, by spray coating or roll coating applicable to a low-viscosity coating material. |
