The present abstract concerns a new safety road barrier of metal. In the proposed barrier there is inserted a spacer which, as shown on the enclosed main drawing, is comprised of a quadrilateral piece (for example, a parallelogram) having two vertical or slighting sloping sides (one adjacent to the band and the other to the upright) and two oblique arms. When closing the quadrilateral piece, one raises the side connected to the band and, thus, the latter, thereby achieving a better behaviour of the barrier with respect to tipping over and being climbed over. Furthermore, the closing of the quadrilateral piece is prevented by an appropriate configuration of the oblique arms. Therefore, the energy absorbed by the spacer increases with the deformation. The quantity of energy being absorbed can furthermore be easily increased or decreased simply by varying the resistance which it must overcome. <IMAGE> |
