摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a luminescent material which consists of single crystals, cristallites or an assembly thereof of cubic boron nitride grown by using a specified solvent under a specified ultrahigh pressure and above a specified temp., can emit light by excitation with electron beams, etc., is usable as a phosphor of a special cathode-ray tube. CONSTITUTION:The title material consists of single crystals, cristallites or an assembly thereof of cubic boron nitride grown by using LiCaBN2 or Li2BN2 as a solvent under an ultrahigh pressure of 40,000atm or higher and at 1,300 deg.C or higher. It has a peak at about 413nm when irradiated with ultraviolet rays having a wavelength shorter than that of the material, charged particles such as electron beams or corpuscular radiations such as neutron radiation as a result of lattice defect, emits in the range of 320-650nm, and exhibits a spectrum having a remarkable ion vibration structure over about one half of its short wave side. This material is used for various applications such as a phosphor of a special cathode-ray tube, a scintillator for measuring neutron flux and a variable wavelength laser material.
