<p>PURPOSE:To make an output signal of a temperature detecting element outputted to a print controller to be used for controlling printing operation of a print head and for preventing overheating by providing a switch for switching said output signal to a comparator during a print dormant period of the print head. CONSTITUTION:A switch 9, for example, switches an output signal of a temperature detecting element 3 outputted to a print controller 5 to a comparator 8 at a receiving state that a print head 1 is in a dormant period such as from a certain page to a following page. Here, the print dormant period of the print head 1 is detected by a CPU 7 and a signal d for commanding a switch by the switch 9 is inputted to the switch 9 through an input/output port 6. The comparator 8 compares the output signal of the temperature detecting element 3 with a reference signal corresponding to an overheating temperature of the print head 1 so as to output a print head over-heating signal. Accordingly, the output signal of the temperature detecting element 3 can be used for controlling the printing operation of the print head 1 and for preventing the overheating of the print head 1.</p> |
