PURPOSE:To obtain a high-performance and low-cost permanent magnet by applying specified hot working and heat treatment to the ingot of an alloy including Nd, R which is at least one sort out of rare earth elements other than Nd and including Y, Fe and B as basic ingredients. CONSTITUTION:An alloy including Nd, R which is at least one sort out of rare earth elements other than Nd and including Y, Fe and B as raw material basic ingredients is melted and cast, secondly a cast ingot is hot-worked in the range of strain rate 10<-2>-10<2>/sec. at 500 deg.C or higher and then heat-treated at the temperature of 250-1100 deg.C. For the purpose of making a coercive force and performance higher, a heat treatment is conducted at 250-750 deg.C after the heat treatment at 750-1100 deg.C after the hot working. Especially when Nd is mainly included as a rare earth element, such defects as rough crystal grain and low magnetic properties, particularly low coercive force are removed by processing at a high strain rate in hot working, a structure is made finer and the coercive force is raised. |
