An arrangement for the detection of the position angle of a rotatable control element contains a disc which rotates with the element and an associated fixed carrier (13) for a capacitive electrode arrangement (24) with angle electrodes distributed around the rotation axis and a partially circular concentric read electrode. The disc carries a second capacitive electrode arrangement with a first region opposing different position electrodes according to the angular position, and a second region opposite the read electrode. The second electrode arrangement couples the read and position electrodes. An evaluation circuit reads the position electrode signals cyclically to detect the presence or absence of capacitive coupling. USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. for measuring angular position of choke flap of vehicle internal combustion engine. Enables contactless digital measurement.
