The washing agent contains 0.001-0.2% pref. 0.005-0.01% of a light-fast fluorescent dyestuff of the pyrene-sulphonate, amino-pyrene sulphonate or hydroxy pyrene sulphonate type. These dyes are known, e.g. the Na salts of pyrene - 3:5- disulphonic acid or pyrene - 3:8 disulphonic acid show a pale blue fluorescence, whilst the Na salt of 3 amino - 5:8:10-tri-sulphonic acid shows a green fluorescence. The comp. may be used for cleaning linen, utensils or for general cleaning.
