The invention relates to a push-button device for a flushing mechanism functioning normally with a pull chain. When the user pushes the button (1) of the manoeuvring piece (2), the latter bears on the upper end of the lever arm (3). This lever arm is fixed by means of a pin to the control piece (4) fixed to the lid (5) by means of a decorative nut (6) and drives the control member (7) of the flushing mechanism upwards and thus releases the water contained in the cistern. <IMAGE>
