PURPOSE:To provide the title preventive having a broad spectrum for aquatic organisms and high latching preventiveness against such organisms, thus useful for ship bottom antifouling paints, etc., containing, as active ingredient(s), a 3'-isopropyl-benzanilide compound or, where appropriate, its combination with other compound(s). CONSTITUTION:The objective preventive containing, as active ingredient(s), a compound of the formula (R is CH3 or CF3) (e.g. 3'-isopropyl-2-methyl benzanilide) highly active on barnacle, or a combination of at least one of the compounds of the formula with at least one compound selected from N-(2',4',6'-trichlorophenyl)maleimide and tetramethylthiuram disulfide, etc. Such combination will have higher preventive effect against aquatic organism latching. A paint from the present preventive is stable. |
