Folding apparatus is known in which the folded pieces of laundry are deposited in a single pile. This has the consequence that at least as many items of laundry of the same type must be folded as are required to make a pile. The invention aims to provide apparatus of this type with which items of laundry folded in different ways may be deposited on corresponding piles, according to their type (sorted) and without "skewness" (incorrect offset).
<??>According to the invention, a discharge conveyor (22) and a re-placing conveyor (23) are located following one another in a plane, and the re-placing conveyor (23) is associated with two different depositing ends for depositing folded items (67, 68) as required. This results in the items of laundry being sorted inside the stacking device (65).
