The present invention relates to a device making it possible to improve considerably the separators of mixtures of non-ferrous metal particles and inert particles. The present invention includes, in particular, the means for holding the said particles of such a mixture until the moment when they are at the place where the magnetic field of the separator is the strongest, then in rapidly releasing the said particles at this place. The device furthermore includes means enabling the non-ferrous metal particles to have a ballistic trajectory different from that of the inert particles after they have been separated.
