The contact device comprises a carrier block (10) receiving a number of U shaped contacts, each having 2 parallel arms (16,18) providing a reception slit (20) for a respective conductor wire (24a). The width of the slit (20) is less than the dia. of the conductor wire (24a). A press block (40) is fitted over the carrier block (10) to clamp the conductor wires (24a) in the respective slits (20). The arms (16,18) of each contact are made of a hard resilient, non-conductive plastics, with a metal contact incorporated in one arm parallel to its axis, abutting the side face of the slit. ADVANTAGE - Allows min. spacing between conductor wires.
