1279946 N(6)-Aralkyl-adenosine derivatives BOEHRINGER MANNHEIM GmbH 19 April 1971 [18 Feb 1970] 21877/71 Heading C2C Novel N(6)-aralkyl-adenosine derivatives of the Formula I: wherein R 1 , R 2 , R 3 are each halogen, alkyl, alkoxy or alkylthio and one of R 2 and R 3 are hydrogen, may be prepared either by condensing a 6-substituted purine riboside II with optionally protected hydroxyl groups on the sugar residue wherein X is a reactive group with an appropriately substituted benzylamine and if necessary liberating the protected hydroxyl groups, or rearranging an N-substituted adenosine IV in which the hydroxyl groups on the sugar residue are optionally protected with alkali and if necessary liberating the protected hydroxyl groups by acid hydrolysis. The intermediate IV may be formed by reacting adenosine or optionally acetals or ketals thereof with a compound V Pharmaceutical compositions of the compounds I show coronary dilatory properties when administered with a diluent or carrier. |
