NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I [R<1> is alkyl or aralkyl; R<2> is -CN or -COOR<3> (R<3> is substitutable alkyl or aralkyl)]. USE:Useful for an ultraviolet absorber having a maximum absorbing wavelength in a long-wavelength ultraviolet rays region of 380-400nm and also having excellent stability. Used in adding to a colored plastic for molding, a resin film, a material for heat-sensitive transprinting, a liquid crystalline indicating material and color photograph, etc., and also useful as halation-inhibiting dye. PREPARATION:A compound expressed by formula II and a compound expressed by the formula NC-CH2-R<2> are subjected to condensation reaction in a solvent such as ethanol in the presence of a base (e.g., pyridine) at from 10 deg.C to a boiling temperature of the solvent for 0.5-20hr to afford the compound expressed by formula I. As methyl ester is exemplified. |
